Sometimes we need help with the experiences that we have or the situation that we are in. There are many ways to get help. Here are some listed below.

MIELI Mental Health Finland is a mental health organisation whose mission is to promote mental health, provide crisis support and prevent mental health issues. We want to build a society in which people can talk about mental health safely and without stigma. MIELI’s Crisis Helpline is available around the clock every day of the year. We have 22 crisis centres around Finland that can give you someone to talk to in person or remotely.

The Finnish state has legal aid offices for the purposes of providing legal aid and financial and debt counselling services. State legal aid offices provide legal services to people entitled to legal aid. Public legal aid attorneys working at legal aid offices are independent and impartial when representing a client in court.

Legal aid offices also provide financial and debt counselling services to private individuals and to entrepreneurs and self-employed persons engaged in small-scale business activities. These services are provided by financial and debt counsellors.

The SAK employee rights hotline advises employees of foreign origin and young employees with questions or problems concerning their employment. This free service is open to all and does not require trade union membership.

The Finnish Red Cross helps vulnerable immigrants, such as asylum seekers, people seeking temporary protection, quota refugees and undocumented immigrants.

The operations of the Red Cross are steered by the organisation’s most important principle: the principle of humanity. We help people in need regardless of their legal or social status.

The Non-Discrimination Ombudsman is an autonomous and independent authority. The task of the Non-Discrimination Ombudsman is to promote equality and to prevent discrimination. The Ombudsman also works towards improving the rights, living conditions and status of groups at risk of discrimination, such as foreign nationals. The Ombudsman further supervises the removal from the country of foreign nationals and is the National Rapporteur on Trafficking in Human Beings.
